Skelltos walks the halls of the office building, doing his rounds as a security guard. But in his mind, he's got a different job. He mutters to himself, “These shoes? They have feelings, you know. You can tell by the way they move.” People pass by, shaking their heads or giving him confused looks, but Skelltos doesn’t care. He’s convinced that shoes feel everything—joy, sorrow, and even pain. If only they could talk.

After his shift, Skelltos slips into a crowd at a concert. He stands in the back, arms crossed, watching the band. His eyes wander to the shoes around him, from flashy boots to scuffed sneakers. “Look at them,” he thinks, “they’re all experiencing this moment, too.” He taps his foot along with the rhythm, sharing the energy with the shoes on his feet and everyone else’s. They get it. He’s sure of it.
